What to expect from the 8 day Mount Kenya Climb

This climbing exercise joins two of the most utilized treks up Mt. Kenya, Sirimon and Chogoria, producing two entirely different and differentiated treks. Sirimon emanating from the west passes through the dry side of the mountain and the Chogoria path is vastly different with its attractive bamboo and sylvan forests. The other night time climb of Lenana can be very difficult as any climb in the East African region.

Nairobi, Mt Kenya Safari Day 1: Nairobi
Norfolk Hotel welcomes the throng of tourists as they reach Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. Those arriving early in the day have a kaleidoscopic variety of sightseeing available, including tourist and wildlife destinations like Giraffe Manor, the Karen Blixen homestead and the much respected national museum.

Day 2: Nanyuki
Mt. Kenya Safari Club is located near the town of Nanyuki, which is our first tourist destination. Then, one can stop at the Kenya's biggest open-air market, Karatina, as well at the all welcoming women's organization, the Nanyuki Weavers. The popular Safari Club is our venue for the for lunch. A wide variety of activities are available at this much famed and commonly visited resort.

Day 3: Old Moses
Day three is initiated with a hike from the Sirimon Gate and is a short 9 kilometers and ends at Old Moses Camp, which is located at a height of 3,300 meters. One can go for a walk through the sylvan rainforest, which includes the imposing and beautiful giant cedar trees in its wake. Exquisite mammals can be seen on any ordinary day, but this is the most likely, with elephant and buffalo being the commonly found animals on the way.

Day 4: Shipton's Camp
On day four, one can reach upto the planned out destination and most trekkers can traverse the distance in around 5-6 hours. Mackinders valley is the next stopover.

There are some picturesque views as you leave the green region and reach the dangerous Tundras, with many lobelias in the sight. Night stay occurs at a destination called as Shipton's Camp.

Day 5: Shipton's Camp
Kami Hut is reached by the tourists in the beginning of day five. Many picturesque alpine lakes and pools, and dangerous but natural rock formations are to be found here. Night stay occurs at the Shipton's camp as planned in the original schedule.

Pt. Lenana, Mt Kenya Safari Day 6: Summit at Pt. Lenana
A middle-of-the-night climb to arrive at Point. Lenana has to be done before sunrise, here. Once the climb is complete one can see Mt. Kilimanjaro, the legendary African peak to the south, Mt. Elgon to the west and the all subsuming Indian Ocean to the East. Then, the climbing down occurs before the weather becomes unbearable for the tourists in this travel tour.

Day 7: Nairobi
On day seven of the tour, tourists climb all the way to Park Gate through a rich and resplendent and imposing bamboo forest. Other vegetation differs as well, including massive stands of St. John's Wort. In the afternoon the tourists return to the capital Nairobi, and the night is spent at the Norfolk Hotel.
