Kenya's mountainous central highlands are the ideal destination for an explorer. The adventurous traveler will enjoy the treks through the hills and highlands of the mountains in Kenya.

Some of the famous mountains in Kenya that you can see on your Kenya Wild Safari are:

Mt Kenya: Experience equatorial snow on Mount Kenya. The high peaks of this mountain are clad in snow all year round, even though Mt Kenya is located on the equator. Mt Kenya is the highest peak in Kenya and the second highest peak in Africa. The native Kikuyu people call Mt Kenya Kirinyaga, or place of light and it is considered to be the home of their god Ngai.

The lower slopes of Mt Kenya are covered in dense forest. The main peak is 5199 m high andis a difficult climb, whereas Point Lenana, a lower peak, at 4985 m is a popular trekking route. A trek of 3-5 days through dense forest will take you to Point Lenana. For a less adventurous trekker the trip to Mt Kenya base camp of the highlands around Mt Kenya are a rewarding journey, with cool climate and abundant bird and animal life providing lots to see on your journey with Kenya Wild Safari. Colobus monkeys and giant eagles are some of the creatures you can see as you ascend the highlands around Mt Kenya.

Mt Longonot: This mountain is a dormant volcano with an abundance of wildlife. Towering over Lake Naivasha, Mt Longonot offers spectacular views of the Rift Valley. The great crater of the mountain is home to many species of animals.

Mt Elgon: This extinct volcano situated along Kenya's border with Uganda has a number of caves, which are worth exploring. The Elkony caves have ancient cave paintings within their walls and the Khitum Cave is known for the gathering o elephants which travel deep into the cave to reach the salt links within the mountain. Thick forest and hot springs along the mountainside are some of its other attractions, which you can explore on your Kenya wildlife safari.

The Loroghi Hills, Western Highlands, Shimba Hills, and Taita and Chyulu Hills are some of the other mountains of Kenya that you can explore on your Kenya Wild Safari.
