Spread over just five sq km, the Central Island National
Park serves as an important place for crocodile breeding.
Location
Situated on the banks of Lake Turkana, the Central Island
National Park can be accessed either by road from Nairobi
or by air from Sibiloi.
Climate
Since it generally hot and dry, loose cotton clothes is recommended.
Wild Life Attractions
Apart from crocodiles, game includes hippopotamus, plains
and Grevy's zebras, topis, oryxs, reticulated giraffes, and
Grants gazelles.
Things to do
Tourists can go for climbing, camping and walking through
the nature trails. The Central Island National Park provides
excellent opportunities for viewing and photographing. Also,
a visit to the three crater lakes within the park- Crocodile
Lake, Flamingo Lake and the Tilapia Lake is a must.
