The Nairobi National Park holds the distinction of being the only protected area in the world that is set close to a capital city. The vegetation is chiefly open grass plains, dry savannah with dispersed acacial bushes. The park also has a permanent river flowing through it with a riverine forest.
Location
Located in the capital city of Kenya, the Nairobi National Park is located just 7km from the city center and can be reached using the Langata road directly from the airport.

The climate is moderate with mean temperatures of 19'c.
Wild Life Attractions
The Nairobi National Park has been functioning as a successful rhino sanctuary hence sight of black rhinos is ensured. Apart from that lions, leopards, hyenas and cheetahs elands, buffaloes, zebras and wildebeests roam in the wild. The park has recorded over 400 species of bird life like the yellow-billed stork and ostriches, but some of the birds are also migratory.
Things to do
Game viewing tops the list, especially the annual migration of zebras and wildebeests in the month of July along with bird watching. Tourists can also take part in the Nairobi Safari Walk, go picnicking at sites like Impala Observation Tower, Ivory Burning Site and Leopard Cliffs or walk the nature trail to the Hippo Pool. Other tourists attractions include the Lone tree and the Director's Tree Planting Site.
